Bricklayer Certification

Certification as a bricklayer in Manitoba can increase your chances for employment. This certificate is Red Seal* endorsed. This means it has Canada-wide recognition. There are two choices to get the Red Seal Certification:

Choice A: Re-Qualification
1. Participate in an interview with the Apprenticeship Branch where skills and experience are assessed.
2. Submit a completed Trades Qualification Application Form, statement of work experience and examination fee.
3. Write the Trades Qualification Examination.

Choice B: Apprenticeship Program
Register as an Apprentice (advanced standing possible)

Alexander wanted to understand Manitoba's codes and building styles so he participated in the Apprenticeship Program by working at Euro-Can while studying at Red River College. He chose to do all four levels of the apprenticeship over three years before taking the Trades Qualification Examination.

*Note: Red Seal is a certification allowing tradespeople to work in all provinces. For more information, see Interprovincial Standards Red Seal Program in USEFUL LINKS.
