Electrician Certification
To work as an electrician in Manitoba, you are not required to be certified, but you must obtain a Manitoba Journeyman Electrician Licence. This licence is issued by the Mechanical and Engineering Branch of the Department of Labour and Immigration. Certification as an electrician in Manitoba can increase your chances for employment. This certificate is Red Seal* endorsed. This means it has Canada-wide recognition. There are two choices to get the Red Seal Certification:
Choice A: Re-Qualification
1. Participate in an interview with the Apprenticeship Branch where skills and experience are assessed.
2. Submit a completed Trades Qualification Application Form, statement of work experience and examination fee.
3. Write the Trades Qualification Examination.
Choice B: Apprenticeship Program
Register as an Apprentice (advanced standing possible)
