The process through the Association of Professional Engineers is quite simple and straightforward. Just apply, get assessed, do your exams.

The other option is to go through a process called IEEQ, the Internally Educated Engineers Qualifications Program which is a year at the University of Manitoba.

Since I already had a job, going that way would have held me back, so I decided to challenge the exams on my own.
