I went to one of the top schools in Colombia and did a five-year-plus degree in Industrial Engineering, which included a thesis and internships.

Unlike Canada, there is no additional work component in Colombia. You become a Professional Registered Engineer right after you finish school. 

There is a mandatory internship but it's within your university years and you report back to the university.

So I was licensed to practice immediately after I graduated.
