Bala wrote one confirmatory exam and an ethics exam. Bala had 12 months of experience in Canada and four years of documented professional experience from India. He attended seminars and workshops during his Masters that helped satisfy the professional development criteria. He also volunteered to assist at professional events such as "Engineering Week" while working at Bristol Aerospace Ltd.

Bala volunteered at the University of Manitoba and with Canadian Blood Services.

Bala chose to earn a Master's Degree. Although this is not required for P. Eng designation in Manitoba, he feels it helped him in the recognition process.
